In the early '70s, Tommy Hilfiger was a mere 18 years old when he decided to move to New York City to find the latest jeans and bell-bottom trousers, with the goal of personalising them and selling them. He then opened his first boutique, which was short-lived, but then launched the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation in 1984 which allowed him to develop his own collection of men's clothing.
