Ted Lapidus, founder of the brand in 1951, was among the first to impose the Saharan style or "uniform". In 1963, he joined the Union Chamber of Haute Couture Parisienne. He was also one of the designers for popular stars, including Brigitte Bardot, John Lennon and the Beatles.
